Sylly: Campus Dating

Sylly is a dating app that gives college students a time, place, and person for a date on their college campus.

2 years in the making, Sylly was only a concept In a friend's Figma drafts until I, Inspired by it's mission to connect users IRL for their date (a breath of fresh air from the legacy swipe, match, chat model), pitched a campus-wide campaign to bring it to life.

Not long after we debuted the app at the University of Illinois during syllabus week (hence "Sylly"), a mishap from the university department employing my co-founder and I resulted in the loss of my co-founder's visa and the death of Sylly during the Spring 2023 semester. RIP.

Fun story

In our quest to assemble a formidable team, we strategically placed modest fliers around the campus under the guise of a "Super Secret Social App." The response beat all expectations, with an influx of eager candidates lining up for two consecutive weeks of interviews. Building on the intrigue, we decided to maintain the alias, inadvertently sparking a viral trend that swept through the campus community—IYKYK.
