Baby's First Big Apple
8.13.21
I waited 21 years to experience America’s largest metropolitan jurisdiction. For that time, it was that Big Apple everyone spoke of. The place where the towers fell, and the Stonewall too. Not even growing up in America’s Second City prepared me for the inevitable smallness I felt when I took my first steps in New York. Such scale, high and far. People are hurried there. The average walking pace a few notches quicker than I’m used to. Capitalist reminders towering all around us, ensuring we continue along as cogs like our forefathers intended. I, just a small fish in an incalculably large pond, was filled with wonder, and raised my camera to capture the mundanities of a place to which I was no more or less foreign than my Ellis Island ancestors that put me there.
